I just learned of the existence of a website that promotes guns and ammo. Can you believe that? They might as well be promoting the safe and personal use of car bombs. I am not going to get into a debate about guns. I think we all know that if you look at the last 100 years of our country, the number of people who have guns has gone up and so has the number of people getting shot! Do the math: More guns = more people getting shot. It's that simple. Do you want to get shot? I don't!
The website that I'm referring to is called Aphecca. I have to admit that I haven't really read anything on their site because it is clear that it is conservative and my readers know that I do not read conservative literature. (I don't drink bleach either!). Furthermore, there is a picture of a guy with a gun right on the front. How can so-called patriots promote guns? What great American patriot has ever held a gun throughout our entire history? It just doesn't happen.
I'm going to give Alphecca (which is probably a Greek word for ammunition) a chance to improve themselves and drop the whole gun thing. If they don't then I'm going to put them on the Blue Flypaper Black List.
For those thinking that this might be too harsh, I'm sure given the chance they would just put a couple of rounds in our rear-ends and call it a warning. What bums me out is that this guy is from Vermont. Based on Howard Dean, I thought everyone in Vermont would be cool. It's not that big of a state so a sample size of one should be sort of accurate. But I don't ever picture Howard Dean posing with a rifle like that guy above. Scary!
I really hate to take this negative tone and go all Columbine on someone I don't really know, but if we don't get guns off of web sites then we might as well accept the fact that there will be crime. Remember guns = crime. Nuff said. I'm off to my womyn's fiction reading group where I'm pretty sure there will be no guns! Just incense, Indian hymym tea, and lots of love in the room.

Is your blog for real, or are you just trying to be funny? I live in Colorado and we can carry concealed weapons. The murder rate is 3.9 per 100,000. In the District of Columbia where you are not allowed even to have a hand gun in your house the murder rate is 44.2 per 100,000.

First. Are you folks going to tell me that there wouldn't be a loss less deaths in Iraq if guns were outlawed? As for Colorado, I can tell you why there isn't as much crime. There are so many liberals in Colorado that do things to help people BEFORE they become criminals that there is no reason to shoot 'em. How does making guns illegal in OUR country affect the gun laws of Iraq? And don't the insurgents already have stockpiles of weapons? Also, in your last argument, you conceded that crime is caused by social problems, not guns. Why then should taxpayer money be wasted on gun laws when it would be better spent on social programs?
When we illegally and immorally invaded Iraq to get the oil, the side affect was that Bush & Chenny turned Iraq into the lawless country it is now. I seriously doubt that Iraq even has one gun control law on the books. Just terrible. Anyway, since Halberton is pulling all of the strings it would be easy to get a law passed. If people are skittish, we could start with just an assault rifle ban and then latter work our way down the "Saturday Night Specials" where the real carnage happens. I'm sure Barbara Boxer would be happy to help craft a law, she's really good at those kinds of things.
As for the stockpiles, once they are illegal, that problem will go away. Haven't you heard the torture that goes on by US troops in those prisons? You can bet the Iraqis have.

ALBUQUERQUE -- A man attacking his ex-wife with a knife inside a southeast Albuquerque Wal Mart was shot and killed by a 72-year-old man Thursday evening.
It all happened around 5:30 p.m. at the store on San Mateo near Zuni. There was mayhem and confusion inside a southeast Albuquerque Wal Mart as employees and shoppers were sent fleeing by the sound of gunfire.
The victim in this case is 46-year old Joyce Cordova. She is in critical but stable condition at this time at UNM Hospital.
Albuquerque Police say Cordova had a long history of domestic violence with ex-husband Felix Vigil. A co-worker says Cordova was working in the deli was attacked by her ex-husband.
Vigil was shot to death by 72-year old Due Moore. Police won't say how many shots were fired, but some witnesses tell News 13 they heard at least three shots.
Police say Moore had a concealed carry license and is a well-known volunteer with APD's cold case unit.

First off, if government isn't going to solve people's problems, why bother having it. Our forefathers created this country so that the government could provide for its citizens including safety, welfare, healthcare, etc., all in a non-discriminatory manner.
Unfortunately, being white males with western values, they didn't quite get it right and we've ended up with a police state with no health care. We have a caste system that is worse than India's.
We need to fix what is broken. That means no more wars no more fighting. It means taking the tax burden off of the poor and having the rich pay their fair share. It means proving superior health care to everyone in the country. It means opening up our borders and many many other things.

Most crime in this country is commited by criminals. These criminals didn't start out that way, they were little loving boys and girls. Then society gets involved and makes sure that some of these little boys and girls don't have what they need to grow up into loving adults.
They don't get a good education, good jobs, good healthcare, good vacations, etc. that others have. Sometimes, not always, they go ahead and take something that isn't theirs. Even though they deserve these things and society owes them these things, they go about it the wrong way. When that happens, you want to put a bullet in their head.
Admittedly, things can sometimes get a little out of hand, like a knife to the throat, and that is never good. But killing someone should never be the answer.
If you want to solve crime and really solve it for good, then give people what they deserve...jobs, healthcare, self-esteem, housing, nutritious foods, etc. and there will be no reason for them to be forced to steal stuff. Crime will go away.
How do we pay for this? Increasing taxes on the superwealthy. Plus since crime will go away, gun owners won't need guns anymore and can chip in some of the money they save to support the system. Hello my Dutch freind:
I think the Dutch are great. You are a proud and noble people who throughout your history have been victims of other nations' aggressions. While your country is indeed small, and some would say geo-politically irrelevant, it is beautiful in so many ways.
Furthermore, Holland is part of the EU which is home of France, Italy and other great countries.
