Baseball Cards Selling to Fight Global Warming

A friend of mine, Eric, sent me an email about this new thing he is doing to support the "cause". It turns out that when he was young he used to collect baseball cards but lately he has realized that: 1) it was insensitive of him to collect something that required the exploitation of minorities (since most baseball players are exploited minorities); 2) It was a product that could only be made by killing living trees.

So he decided to sell his entire collection and then use the proceeds to fight global warming.

I applauded his decision and told him that I'd help in any way but that I couldn't support it if it meant selling them on eBay since eBay executives are well-known for supporting causes that exploit underprivileged peoples in 3rd world counties.

He looked around and found these guys, Sportsbuy.com, and put all of his products up here. I told him I'd link to their baseball card section.

I also wrote Sportsbuy and told them what a good PR move it would be if they donated their profits to the NO ON 8 campaign but they did not respond. Despite that I'm hoping that the cards sell so that we can do something about global warming and oil dependency once and for all.

Al Gore III should be feted not arrested

As has been widely reported in mainstream media and in extremely right wing blogs, you all know that Al Gore III (GIII) was arrested this week for speeding and other assorted infractions.

This is injustice as not been seen since the 60s when racist white cops picked on the Black Panthers and the Weathermen for no reason other than the Man was once again being a dick. But I digress. Al Gore III is being unfairly targeted. He is a hero not a criminal.

GIII has done more to publicize the performance possibilities of hybrid. Only his incredible dad (GII) has done more.

Also, people who drive hybrids should not be ticketed for speeding anymore than they are ticketed for driving alone in the carpool lane.

Even if he did break the law a little bit, what's worse, going a little fast in a hybrid (which was probably just the flow of traffic) or raping our environment? Since we don't punish the later why punish the former?

The poor kid is obviously sick. For all we know he was rushing to the hospital with all of his medicines with him. He had so many prescription drugs (including Xanax, Valium, Vicodin, Adderall, and medicinal marijuana) that he must be horribly sick. (Why else would he be driving a 2:15 a.m. than if he wasn't sick?). He deserves our help not a ticket. Plus given the how expensive medicines are, the poor kid probably probably spent all his money on those prescriptions.

You can bet that the right wing Orange County cops picked on him (which is easy since how many Prius's are there anyway?) with hopes of upsetting any plans he has of following in his dad's and grandfather's footsteps. Let's face it, being successful politicians is in the Gore blood!

If all else fails, his dad should just give him a pardon. Over 50% of the country sees Al Gore II as the rightful president so over 50% of the country would recognize the legitimacy of the presidential pardon. That means the majority of jurors on any trial would have to let him go. If Scooter Libby gets a pardon so should AG III.

Al Gore II is the process of saving the planet. I think that it's more important for our world that Al be focused on saving the lives of 10 billion people than to be distracted by political persecution of his son by Orange County cops.

Alec Baldwin is a Loving Father

Alec Baldwin is getting a bum rap. Unlike those hateful conservatives who just want to tear him down because of his brave fight against global warming and other stuff that Republicans hate, I care about FACTS!

FACT #1: Alec actually takes the time to call his daughter on the phone.

FACT #2: It's a LONG-DISTANCE call and it was clear he didn't call COLLECT.

FACT #3: He knew her age (give or take a year and for all we know it was her birthday and she was 11 turning 12).

FACT #4: The daughter is a rich brat. What kind of daughter would release on to the World Wide InterWeb a personal recording from their DAD.

FACT #5: Alec is one of the most famous people in the world, think of the pressures he has on him. I think that pretty much any other person in Alec's shoes for just a day would end up yelling at their kid too.

FACT #6: He offered to fly out there and "straighten her out." How many parents would do that?

FACT #7: He made "Cat & The Hat", a kids movie no less!

It's clear that this is a 20th Century Fox News attack on the man because of his outspoken support for global warming and Katrina.

If the Baldwins had decided to go into politics they could have been another Kennedy clan. Each family in their own way is so incredible that we should figure out a way to preserve their DNA for future generations. Perhaps that is why the Bush klan is to determined to fight Stem Cell Research. Huh!?!

Anyway, poor Daniel Baldwin appears to have gotten in a minor traffic accident and by the reaction of the blogosphere you'd get the idea that he did something really wrong. Baldwins, like the Kennedys, don't do things that are wrong!

Let's not make a mountain out of a molehill. Wilshire Blvd. is a dangerous street. There are accidents on it all of the time--even by non-politicians and non-celebrities get in accidents on that street. And if he was speeding it was probably because he had somewhere important to go, or perhaps his lady friend (who is essentially a "First Lady" when you think of it) was in a rush.

Washington DC cops are smart enough to know that you don't lock up a Kennedy, it's too bad that LA cops don't know the same thing is true for Baldwins.

With My Work Done, I Can Now Rest

When I started blogging a year or so ago, the right wing was in the White House and controlling Congress. Even worse Republicans had gotten us in a war in the Mideast, had failed to catch Bin Laden, and were running up huge deficits. Still worse, homelessness was rampant and the virtuous political left had no leadership and no plan to make everything better. This terrible situation led me to start Blue Flypaper.

Thank goddess that I did as look at the results. I don't want to take all of the credit myself as many other of my fellow left-wing bloggers like Daily Kos have certainly helped as well. The LA Times and NY Times have done their part too.

I now need some time for myself. I will leave comments open for awhile and entertain offers for the site as long as whoever buys it agrees to keep the tone and tenor the same. While I am not driven by money, I know that Weblogs and Skype sold for a whole bunch of money and there are a lot of worthy projects I could do if I were able to sell it.

Executing Tookie would be a political assassination

Stanley "Tookie" Williams should not be murdered by the State of California.

Here's why:

1. He is an African American who never received a fair trial in front of his peers.
2. Hollywood celebrities have come out against the execution even big names like Mike Farrell who normally don't get involved with politics.
3. It was never proven that Tookie knew the Crips were going to be a criminal gang when he started them. He certainly can't be held responsible for the crimes they committed after he left the club.
4. He is a victim of racism and cannot be held responsible for his actions.
5. The NAACP has asked us not to.
6. It would be the equivalent to a lynching.
7. Think of all of the young men who will never have a chance to have their lives improved by Tookie.
8. All of the press coverage and discussion about it will traumatize kids. Don't they have enough to deal with?

Do I think we should just let him go? Of course not, I'm a realist. Since Tookie admitted that he committed crimes many years ago I would insist on a strict probation that would put him right back in jail if he committed any more crimes (especially if he murdered somebody).

Part of the probation should also be that he agrees to keep publishing those excellent children's books that have done so much to fight crime. How many kids do we see running around killing people since he started his publishing career.

Blue Flypaper Explains True Blue's Absence

I lead a triple life. Part of me works at the free trade coffee haus, part of me blogs here, and part of me volunteers for a variety of causes. This time of year is always busy on the charity front and I spent a good part of November working at a "without homes" shelter. I had planned to blog from there but conditions were much, much worse than I had expected.

First off, there were only a few computers for either the staff or the without-homes to use. Even more to the point, no Macs! Since Macs are easier for computer novices to use, you would think that someone would have had the decency to acquire some iMacs for street people. Second we were on dial-up and there was no broadband! How are those without homes supposed to be able to get back on their feet at 56kps? How many of you have tried to use Monster.com on dial-up? How many of you have tried to run their own business on dial-up? So how do we expect those without homes to do so? Ditto on cell phones, faxes, IM, Chat, MySpace, etc. Employers expect these things yet we keep them away from those that need them the most.

All was not negative however. The people we helped at the shelter are a noble, beautiful people who are looking forward to the end of the Bush administration so that they can get back on their feet and become productive citizens again. We owe so very much to these people that I can't blame them if they never want to go back to work. Fortunately in 2008 it will all be okay. It will be beautiful.

Ad hominem means that if instead of attacking the argument you attack the person. I will not tolerate being attacked nor will I accept sexism, ageism, regionalism, racism, sizism, or bias on the basis of education, intelligent, work-experience, heritage, social-economic status, religion, etc. in this blog.

The reason that I need to ban ad hominem arguments is that neocons in particular with their small minded and spiteful intellect and greed-based sexist elitism leads them far too often to attack the people instead of the argument.

Numbers Don't Lie: Let Ted Kennedy Select the Next Supreme Court Justice

Despite those who don't think I understand statistical analysis and stuff, I have a pretty good understanding of the normal distribution and statistical sampling. And I think you would all agree that 6.3 million would constitute (that being a key word here) a statistically representative sample

With that established, let's look at what these 6.3 million people agree and it turns out that year in and year out they agree that Ted Kennedy should represent them in making decisions. Since there is nothing more important for government to decide than selecting our Supreme Court justices, statistics tells us that Ted Kennedy should make the decision!

Now, I can already picture your arguments especially those who don't have quite the grasp of mathematics as I do and you're thinking what about California? It has even more people. I'm okay with that one too. Go ahead and let Barbara Boxer decide, I'm okay with that one too!

Finally, I can imagine some of you saying well aren't conservative politicians elected as well so why not let them participate. If you look closely you'll see that those are largely from smaller states (not statistically significant) or got there via election fraud or campaign finance fraud.

Blue Flypaper implores Democrats to Rally Their Base

Since my readers appear to enjoy a little humor:

Donald Rumsfeld is giving the president his daily briefing. He concludes by saying: "Yesterday, 3 Brazilian soldiers were killed."

"OH NO!" the president exclaims,"that's terrible!"

His staff sits stunned at this display of emotion, nervously watching as the president sits, head in hands.

Finally, the president looks up and asks, "How many is a brazillion?"

Okay, now let's get serious. Bush blew it with Meiers but even though I am a loyal Democrat, we Dems have not played this very well either. Bush was taken out by the crazy right wing religious nut side of the party when it should be Democrats that slow and stall the process. That's why we need to rally the Democrats greatest asset...our celebrity base.

When you think of it, the Republicans have only a few celebrities to speak of..Charleston Heston, Ron Silver, and that's about it. The Democrats however have a who's who on the red carpet. We have men and women who can "open a picture" as well as ensemble actors and grass root actors (like Christine Ricci) and other up & comers. Our leading liberal stars and starletts are the ones who should be involved in the selection of the next Supreme Court Justice.

As strong and incredibly brave and brilliant as Teddy Kennedy and Barbara Boxer are, they shouldn't have to fight every Republican nominee single handedly. If Brad Pitt, Angela Jolie, and Sean Penn are out there working against the next Bush nominee, they those nominees won't have a chance. Meanwhile if and when a good nominee is proposed, the support of people like Woody Harrelson or a Baldwin will make it a shoo-in. Come on!

But the Democrats have not been employing this strategy and I'm not sure why. One possibility is that they are saving them in reserve for 2008. But I think that this is dangerous. To me, picking a Supreme Court Justice is just as important as picking a Congressmen.

Let's hope that we see Robert Altman and Rob Reiner helping us pick the next justice. If they do you know that everything will be okay.

Blue Flypaper Sadly Adds 'Person of Size' to Black List

This is not a happy day. It is with great regret that I add a new member to the Black List. Even though Fatman (I really do not like that term) tells me that he is legitimately a person of size and therefore in my opinion deserving of pity and assistance, his constant attacks on those who do not agree with him and his staunch anti-union stance put him on the Black List. He is also a sexist that uses rape-like words in describing womyn.

Other issues with his blog is that his blogroll is a who's who of the crazy right from Wizbang to Patterico.

In fact, his opening post had this to say: "keep in mind that this is not a democracy. It is a one-man dictatorship and I am the Big Kahuna and it has gone to my head." (Can you say fascist?)

Finally, he put up a post personally attacking me even though his little book of rules says that there should be no personal attacks.

Do yourself a favor and stay clear of this site and your days will go better.

There are so many reasons that true liberals will want to avoid Mayor Sam's Sister City. Among them:

They chose to name their blog after a man who is best known for his anti-communist, anti-Equal Rights Amendment and anti-busing opinions.

The guy is dead--so it's kind of a creepy name even if it wasn't the name of a famous white male.

If they wanted to pick a great politician to name their blog after they could have chosen Shirley Chisholm, the first black woman elected to Congress.

Mayor Sam is relentless on their unwarranted attacks on Maxine Waters--which is how I first learned of their existence. Everyone (particularly the Mayor Sam web site) has made such a big deal about her being added to a list of the "most corrupt" members of congress. Big whoopeedoo. If you look at the list you can see a number of problems with it. For one, as a victim of lifelong racism and sexism, she does not deserve to be a list with oppressive white males. Second, the "crimes" she is alleged to have committed are really about her taking care of her own family members an allowing them to use her influence to extort city contracts of a million dollars over the past several years. In some cultures this is called love and/or taking care of your young.

Finally, Mayor Sam is part of the Bear Flag League--a veritable "who's who" of crazy right wing bloggers including Independent Sources, BoxerWatch, Patterico and about another 100 or so whackos.

In short, stay away from Mayor Sam and instead spend time with this group.

Conservative Bloggers Rush to Judgment (Again!)

Once again the conservative bloggers are out there pointing the finger at Islam. I'm referring to people like the Jawa Report, Michele Malkin and Independent Sources. Boy do these sites make me mad.

Since it's a suicide bombing it must be an Islamist.
Because he tried to get into a crowded stadium while wearing a bomb around his body, he must be a bad guy.
Just because he attended a Mosque, he's connected with Islam.
Just because he wears a beard and looks like an "Islamic Doogie Howser," people think it's okay to make a joke out of it.

This was probably just a plea for help gone awry and instead of our sorrow people are dumping on the poor boy. Most suicide attempts are just pleas for help and if this had been anyone other than a student of Islam (assuming he was even that) no one would be making an issue of it. But give him an Islamic beard and all of a sudden is made into a big deal. It's so sad that a young man lost his life and you don't hear one iota of grief for that. Furthermore, I haven't heard one member of our leadership apologize to this young man's family for allowing our society to mistreat him so that he had no alternative but to strap explosives onto his body and go to a football game.

If this is terrorism then every person who overdoses on pills or jumps off of a bridge or hangs themselves is a terrorist. Or is it only when a Muslim kills themselves is it "terrorism"?

Sure by our mores blowing one's self up in a public place might seem extreme and possibly dangerous to passersby. However, to someone in Iran, jumping off a bridge might seem equally extreme and equally dangerous to those who might be below them. But do we call these folks "terrorists"?

We are so hypocritical that it makes me sad. If there is any good that might come out of this young man giving up his life is that perhaps we will learn to change our ways that forces young men such as this into a corner where there is no one to hear their pleas for help.

Child Abuse Caught on Camera

There is so much wrong with this photo I don't know where to begin. Most importantly is the the subtle message is that womyn need to be responsible for child rearing else abusive situations like this one will result. I wouldn't be surprised if the intent of this photo is to scare womyn away from allowing their significant others (at least those who are in heteronormative relationships) to take care of the children, even for a little while.

For those of you who are less tolerant of alternative lifestyles, I would like to note that you would never see this type of child abuse in a lesbian family.

I'd also like to note that this shirt is so demeaning that it shouldn't even be worn by an adult. I believe in free speech but not if it is offensive, sexist or perpetuates violence towards womyn. This should be against the law.

Blue Flypaper Endorses Smaller Government

In a move that will make conservatives (even the evil, hateful kind) happy, Blue Flypaper endorses the notion of smaller government.

Are you happy conservatives? I hope so.

In order to do this however you need to accomplish one small thing first...end racism, sexism, ageism, regionalism, nationalism, heightism, as well as any other barriers that keep good people from being able to succeed on their own including learning disabilities, previous income inequalities, physical disabilities, educational or skill level differences due to cultural differences, etc. We must also end any bias against people of size, people who stutter, people whose parents or other caregivers weren't able to give all of the tools that well-off children had (such as good schooling or good discipline), differences in athleticism, etc. Once we've evened out all of these it won't be so necessary for the government to step in and help these people in a system that is biased against them.

The result would be a smaller government which would allow us to use all of money we are saving in existing social programs to fund new ones.

Proud, Noble Would-Be Worker Uses Humor to Look for Job

This proud resourceful man is showing the range of his creativity by employing humor to get the message across that he wants to work and wants to be a productive citizen.

Unfortunately, our society doesn't give people of color much of a chance so they have to employ such tactics to find work. David Chappelle, Martin Lawrence, and Flip Wilson are just some of the persons of color who had to resort to humor to get jobs. This is something that white euro-centric males do not have to do. How funny are Bill Gates, Ed Asner, or even Lance Armstrong? They're not but unlike black men, their lack of mirth did not hold them back.

I dream of a day that our society is on a level playing field and people like the man in the photo get their due.

How Dare This Country Persecute Ted Kennedy Again

I can't believe that the U.S. has once again persecuted Ted Kennedy. As his brothers did before him, Ted Kennedy has given his life to public service. Everything he does is to help other people, the man could not hurt a fly and has never done anything wrong. Yet, this country is constantly picking on him or his family--like that poor William Kennedy Smith.

What is the latest example of Kennedy bashing? Easy, the Senate's total disregard of Ted Kennedy's feelings on the confirmation of John Roberts. Everyone knew that Ted didn't like Roberts and that he voted against him and yet other Senators still voted for Roberts???? Excuse me, but did those other Senators have a brother who was President? Did they have two brothers who were assassinated? Unless the answer to those questions is yes then I suggest the next time Ted Kennedy takes a position on something that they shut up and vote with him. Isn't that the least we owe this man and his family?

Blue Flypaper Says to Bush: "Strike 3, You're Out!"

When truthspeakers appropriately blamed El Presidente Bush for his policies that led to and caused Katrina and its aftermath. But noooo, it was just nature all of the Bush apologists said.

Then Rita struck. This time it was a little harder for Bush and Co. to blame nature (or that little butterfly in China as Chaos Theorists say). But blame Mother Nature they did.

Now we have a third crisis. The wildfires in Chatsworth and the northern San Fernando Valley. These fires are the result of Bush's cuts in all sorts of services (from fire fighters to brush clearance programs) and global warming. It was over 100 degrees today in the Valley (how's that for global warming?). Not only is there no FEMA response once again (I think we're all getting used to that) but even more notable Bush has absolutely nothing to say. What can he? It is so absolutely horrible what this man has done. We never had problems of this magnitude until his administration came in and cut the Kyoto protocols while gutting every possible environment protection.

Bush is out of excuses we need to impeach him now for these hurricanes and fires. What more do we need to see? How much more damage does he need to do? Do we have to wait for him to cause more ice storms? When are people going to wake up and get this guy out of there before we are flooded, burned, or shaken out of our homes?

If you make less than $71K a year you are in poverty--right where Bush wants you!

This might be the most important blog posting you ever read, pass it on and maybe it's not too late to do something about.

According to the Los Angeles Times if you make less than $71k a year, you are in poverty. Since the average household income in the United States is approximately $41k, this means that even factoring in the cost of living differences between the California and the rest of the country, the bulk of the country is living in poverty! This started with the "Reagan Revolution" and then has been finished by George Bush.

If you don't believe me look at the links, these are facts. We are now a nation of serfs. The extremely wealthy now control almost everything. They have created a system where you need money to buy things and the more money you have the more you can buy. They then drove up housing prices so that everyone bought a home using interest only loans. When those come due, the majority of poor people (e.g., those making under $71k/year) will default and the incredibly wealthy will get those homes too. Regular people are forced to get loans from banks, banks get their money from Fannie Mae, Fannie Mae is an arm of the government controlled by Cheney and Bush. Seem a little odd to you?

You don't have to believe me as the evidence is all readily available. Why isn't anyone doing something to stop this? Is it any surprise that Russia's Putin is one of George W. Bush's best friends since he is doing the same thing in Russia? In fact Putin told Bush how to do it and the lessons learned there from "Privatization".

The only people who could stop this are the United Nations and what a coincidence, the same world body that Bush has been distancing us from and undermining at every opportunity. Bush has done everything he can to weaken the UN including trumping up false charges on Kofi Annan--the head of the UN.

It is sooooo sad. By the time Hillary Clinton is elected President in 2008 if we don't do something to stop Bush there won't be a country left for her to rule. We need to act and act now. The only thing that can stop Bush is to get Americans out of poverty. We need to raise the mean income level to $71k for every household in the country. We can do this by raising the minimum wage so that workers make this amount and by eliminating the taxes that poor people way a disporportionate burden.

We can pay for all of this by eliminating corporate tax loopholes (like "depreciation" which is a huge corporate tax sheltering scheme unavailable to anyone other than big rich corporations). These steps would stop Bush's raping of the country and save us from the Feudal system he and his cronies have been engineering. I know that Barbara Boxer and Ted Kennedy will support this so we need to get a letter writing campaign for the rest of the Senators and we need it now. Like I said, pass this on.

Blogger Having Problems But the World Does Not Wait

I'm sorry that I haven't posted the past few days (other than responses to some inappropriate comments) but Blogger is having problems uploading pictures. I checked Technorati and Google Blog search and found others having the same problem. What gives?

So I've got a number of posts in the queue just waiting to be added. I also have some Black List candidates but I also like to put a picture up with them making it easier to see why I am blacklisting them (you know, "a picture's worth a 1000 words").

I'm at a loss. I could post the stories without pictures or do I wait it out? The closest analogy I can think of is when our barrista was out of commission at the Free Trade Java Hut. Even though we could keep selling teas (which are my favs), it bummed our regulars out that we didn't have our signature World Workers Latte--which was a blend of coffees imported only from regions where the coffee pickers were unionized and foamed organic milk (though me and most others prefer soy instead).

Hopefully, Blogger will overcome their problems as the world will not wait. For example, I was watching the news about Rita and saw a whole another group of poverty stricken people affected by the Hurricane. I sure hope that the government rushes in with unprecedented sums of money to throw at this problem too and doesn't get hung-up on red tape with those debit cards. Furthermore, $2,000 is hardly enough. I don't know why it's not $10k. We are the richest nation on earth, why are we being so cheap with the hurricane victims? It just makes no sense.

I'm going to give it another day and see if Blogger gets their act together.

Okay, it's not blue, but it's red hot. I love this car and think that you can learn a lot about people from the cars they drive.

From looking at my car you can see that I am:

Frugal
Socially conscious
Not flashy
Environmentally friendly

I bought the car from a guy who worked at the tea boutique in the co-op for a month. Supposedly he bought it from a guy in Berkeley and claims that it has true "hippy" cred and was used to shuttle Huey Newton around or something. Awesome.

Anyway, this guy tells he never wants to sell his car then his dad threatens him that he's going to disown him or something if he doesn't go into the military (nice father!). Anyway, the dude isn't going to need a car if he's going off to foriegn lands to kill people so he sells me his car (including a bunch of Country Joe McDonald 8-tracks though I could never figure out how to use the damn player and couldn't even find the eject so I just let it play over and over at really low volume).

I've been meaning to get my beloved car painted but need to verify that the paint they use won't contain any lead.

I can tell by the people who stop and stare when I drive by that people recognize it for the classic that it is and by pointing at me they're essentially saying "right on sister."

I've been trying to decide what bumper sticker to put on it. I still have my Kerry/Edwards sticker on it and wear that like a badge of honor. But Serge told me that I needed one on the other side to balance out my Chi. I was thinking "Friends Don't Let Friends Vote Republican" but I thought I might do something totally unique like "Question Authority."

When Beautiful People Almost Did a Beautiful Thing: Brought Peace to the Mid-East

This ran on e-online a few years ago:

Hollywood's golden couple [Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt] has joined a group of celebrities lending their support to OneVoice, a grass-roots Mideast peace plan, whose catch phrase is "empowering the silent majority."...British tabloids reported that the Aniston-Pitts, as well as a host of other would-be peacemaking celeb members of OneVoice's Entertainment Council, were planning a journey to the Middle East to put their peace plan into play."

And I just came across it again and started to cry. I realized how close we were to peace in the middle east. Unfortunately, jen and Brad's fragile relationship couldn't hold it together and when they separated we lost our best chance at peace in the region.

When I think of it and the ensuing pain and anguish, the lost promise, the senselessness of it all, I just am so sad about the divorce. Of course, I'm said about the Palestinian thing too and I guess that they've had their own troubles since the Pitt/Aniston divorce. So pretty much there are no winners in this one.

I just don't understand with all of the resources of our government, couldn't they have at least tried to keep Jen and Brad together? If they had, perhaps they would have been able to see through their peace mission and gotten the Israelis and Palestinians to like each other. Jen and Brad were certainly well positioned to do so since they were loved by the people of both countries. (Bush is not, the UN is not, Condi is not, but Brad/Jen were!).

I'd like to think that Brad could do it by himself but what happened if he allied himself with just one of the factions (say Palestine) and then Jen jumped on on the side of the Israelis? Talk about WWIII! If they can't do it together maybe it's better if they just stay out.

But it's still sad, and history is going to look back and rue the loss of that marriage (and the chance to see what incredibly beautiful and talented kids would be the result of the union) not to mention the whole peace thingie being disrupted. So sad. So sad.

She certainly isn't as bad as some of the others on the list...Alphecca...who would just assume have me taken out with an (illegally modified) semi-automatic into the back of my head. No, the problem with Ms. Burns is that she has a perfect gift of being a liberated, empowered, free victim of society and she throws all of that potential away. She even looks liberal to pass at one if she wanted to attend Burning Man!!

She is also wasting an education. If having a major in English and Cultural Anthropology isn't the breeding ground for liberalism then what is? Let the conservatives go into the vast wasteland of math and social sciences but for Goddess sake leave the humanities to liberals--since we created Humanities in the first place.

Blue Flypaper Says Let's Eliminate "Crime" Right Now!

So there is no misunderstanding, I am not soft on crime, and I very much believe in law and order. That should please the conservative trolls who sometimes come to my blog with seemingly the sole intent of upsetting my chi.

However, I believe it achieving it in a different way than throwing every person of color into the local Gitmo--which by the way isn't working!

So how to we solve crime and not put people in prison?

First we have to loosen the definition of property rights so that much of what people would call theft simply goes away. Let's bring back the concept of 'sharing'.

Second, if the government would just give people not only what they need to live but also some of the nice things in life then the motivation to steal would drop dramatically. Why include Plasma TV's and complementary subscriptions to Netflix with income housing? Wouldn't we rather have people watching the director's Cut of "Cinema Paradiso" than out on the streets where circumstances might have them end up doing something misguided like selling crack?

Neither of these recommendations would cost that much and they would probably pay for themselves via lower insurance rates. Regardless, the government could probably get a price break with Netflix if they bought in bulk, say 75 million households. Also, the flat panels TV's could probably be paid for by just applying a small surcharge on the sets purchased by rich people. Once again, a small price to pay to see crime go away.

Does the Glock have appropriate safety built into it? Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children? If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me? Should I call 9-1-1? Why is this street so deserted? We need to raise taxes, have a paint-and-weed day and make this a happier, healthier street that would discourage such behavior. This is all so confusing! I need to debate this with some friends for a few days and try to come to a consensus.

Thank Goddess Barbara Boxer is on our side because whoever's side this womyn is on will win! Blue Flypaper likes to think of her as Ted Kennedy in a dress! Unlike other Senators, it isn't all that easy to buy her vote. That's because she puts people first and stepping away from that doesn't come cheap for her or her "contributors." She really is a Senator of the people (especially those often ignored citizens of the 415 area code and parts the 310--especially Venice, CA). Let me tell you that this womyn speaks for the ignored!

Boxer is also brave and on her game. Many Senators, regardless of gender, would retreat after being called a "screeching, irritating hagfest." Those kinds of descriptions just motivate her even more to keep on screaming. Others would be off guard when it was discovered that the sleeziest of the sleezy plaintiff law firms, Milberg Weiss, was a big, big contributor to her campaigns. However, Boxer doesn't bend to that kind of partisan pressure--legitimate or not--and knowing her as I do, she was probably back hitting up law firms for donations within 48 hours of that little bomb shell! That's called being a politician's politician!

Let me tell you this womyn stays on message and for a fellow Democrat that's as big of a compliment as one can give. Like Kennedy was with Chappaquiddick, she knows not to stray from one's story and stay on your game. Goddess we love this womyn. We salute you Barbara Boxer and wish we had the money to give you like so many others do.

Blue Flypaper credits Penn with averting almost 10,000 deaths from Katrina and bases its calculation on the following:

Before Penn's arrival in New Orleans the death toll estimates ranged from 10,000 to 25,000. After 3 days of Penn's boat rescues, the official death toll is now around 300. While there are still many people missing that certainly can't be Penn's fault and those deaths shouldn't count against his number.

Thus it's both accurate and fair to give him credit for the 10,000-300 or 9,700 lives saved.

The Institute is the first international feminist think-tank and as an organization pledged to visionary yet pragmatic action in support of womyn's rights, freedoms, and power.

Now that you know that, let me tell you that these womyn rock! I wish that I was of the status to officially be part of their world. By working to eliminate gender-bias and by promoting equality they show that womyn are superior to men.

Can you imagine a more beautiful sight than a group of womyn sitting around and thinking about all kinds of worldly stuff that think tanks do, like how we can be a better society or how feminists can get rid of homelessness and poverty. Forget male-oriented, euro-centric, Judeo-Christian institutions like Rand, this is the place to go for hard-hitting analyses produced with as much of a focus on aesthetics as much as on statistics.

(Note: for those of you sexists who don't know what a womyn is, it is the term that I and others use to describe the female gender. We have an opening to the Highest Court in the land and who are they nominating? A Euro-centric white male. I think the court already has its fill of white males so why are we putting yet another one on the bench?

Blue Flypaper thinks that it's time to make SCOTUS be reflective of our society and here are some appointments that would certainly be better than Mr. Roberts to achieve this.

Blue Flypaper SCOTUS Nomination Suggestions:

A recently arrived immigrant who brings fresh solutions to our problems and speaks for the millions of legal and illegal persons living in our country.
A native American. Perhaps a sage or a healer or a shaman.
Someone is or has been homeless and understands poverty (this is important since 50% of our country now lives below the mean income level).
A numerologist or astrologist who can put the problems that the court faces in a more universal context.
A teenager since their generation is going to have to live with all of this longer than the people of age now on the court.
Someone from the UN so that our decisions are in synch with the rest of the world (for those uncomfortable with this last idea we could require that they speak some English).

These are just a few ideas to bring new perspective to the court. There are other benefits as well. Originalists and Constitutionalists will enjoy the increased "checks and balances" this would bring. As it stands now with the same people in all three branches of government there are no real checks and balances. Roberts had worked for the Reagan administration and Gonzalez for the Bush administration.

Blue Flypaper asks: Why do we have to draw from the same old pool of federal judges and constitutional lawyers that has gotten us into this mess? It's time for a change!

If you see this man, run! He is crazy. How do I know, let me count the ways:

1. He uses the moniker "Mr. Minority" but he is not a minority! He is clearly a Euro-centric, white male. It is an affront that he calls himself a minority and either does it as some sort of sick satire or perhaps in hopes of getting some of the numerous preferences/benefits this country bestows on its minorities.

2. In his bio he essentially says that he is a White Conservative Christian, and since he is a Male as well we now have four strikes against him! How does this guy live with himself? When he gets up in the morning he must have the urge to oppress everything he sees.

3. He is a gun owner and advocates violence. He's probably drawing a beed on me right now.

4. He is a member of "Blogs Against Hillary," which means he's delusional. How can one seriously be against Hillary unless you are a staunch Edwards supporter (goddess bless them) and even then you can be for both of them (as Blueflypaper is). Not only that but Mr. Minority is even a member of "Stop the ACLU." This is really madness as it is the ACLU who is keeping President Bush from using the Patriot Act to disband the Democratic Party as supporters of terrorism. (There are Internet reports that the CIA has a plan for doing exactly that and they are just waiting for the go-ahead to do it.)

5. His blogroll is a "who's who" of crazy right-wing nut jobs. The phrase "Birds of a feather" comes to mind.

6. He responded to our suggestion that he clean up his hateful act with the following: "Getting Hate Mail from the Left always makes my day, and getting threatened to be blacklisted is even better. I shall wear their blacklisting as a badge of honor, for when the Left hates you, you know you are doing something right."

What am I supposed to do, let this guy remain out there threatening whoever he crosses? No, I have an obligation to protect us all so he's going on the Black List.

Well, I had the most wonderful Labor Day and got to participate in the local Labor Coalition march for solidarity. While many of you were sitting around eating bio-engineered dead animals cooked on a grill, I had raw vegetables and spring water while marching to make this country better. What I don't understand, is why not just double the minimum wage? The workers would pay more taxes and buy more things so it would be a wash. I guess the problem with it is that these workers would then be able to afford an education and see how much they are being exploited since our capitalistic system requires a form of slavery called "entry level" or "low-end" jobs.

Did he co-star in "Another Stakeout" with Emilo Estivez or "Car 54 Where Are You"? I tell you that this woman is red hot and if the U.S. acts fast they might have a chance to get her before she gets involved with another project that takes up so much time that she can't do the Supreme Court gig.

It's Time to Think Jesse Jackson 2008!

With the recent news that Islamic extremism is being bred in prisons, we need a leader who understands that mindset. Know thy enemy.

Jessie understands how crazy, fanatical lunatics think.

Like all great leaders, Jesse Jackson knows how to seize a media opportunity when presented. A crazy bible pounding Pat Robertson makes a comment about offing Venezuela's President and Jesse knows to fly to Venezuela, legitimize the comment, then to tell both nations to stop the rhetoric. Let me tell you, when Jackson says "back down," the governments of both countries know that it is time to cool it. You do not want this man's wrath!

But Jackson is also about love and he has so much love to give that he is known to spread it around and does not selfishly limit it to his wife or family as others might. Is he honored for this? Of course not, hypocritical conservatives run photos like those above with mistresses circled like that picture above of mistress Karin Stanford with whom he fathered a beautiful love child, but you cannot keep this man down.

During the Clinton impeachment trial, Jackson was Clinton's spiritual advisor. Now some would call this hypocritical given Jackson's own history of both extramarital affairs and extensive efforts to cover them up. That is small thinking. The President of the United States is the most powerful man in the world (barring the Dali Lama of course), so he can afford an experienced expert in such matters... and Jackson is the best!

A sign of Jackson's power is how far people will go to attack him even over the slightest little things (and don't forget to compare these to what George Bush is doing like taking health care away from babies and invading peaceful countries). Amongst the things people attack Jackson for:

Referring to New York City as "Hymietown"
Being "America's #1 Shakedown Artist"
That Jackson's Claim that Dr. King died in his arms is a falsehood
For the illegal misuse of tax-exempt funds

I don't have the time or space here to refute each and everyone of these claims, but since you are entitled to my viewpoint, let me share the following:

1. Jackson is a victim. If he is guilty of anything it is in not striking back harsher at those who have victimized him.
2. Jackson loves NY. If he called it "Hymietown" he meant it as a complement.
3. Unless you were there with Dr. King in your arms when he died, then you have no right questioning Jesse about his claims.
4. The illegal misuse of tax-exempt funds is just a mumbo-jumbo technicality. Since when is it illegal or immoral to take money that loving people have voluntarily given you and then give that money to a mother who you made love to and a child who you sired. Since this girl doesn't have a father in the truest sense, Jackson was in essence giving the money to an orphan. In my book that's called "charity" not "hush money," "bribe," "tax evasion" or anything else. If it's illegal to give money to kids without fathers why not go after everyone who's donated to "Save the Children"?

Happy Birthday Best Friend

I know that this is a political blog and all but today is my best friend's birthday and I want to honor her with a posting. She is such an amazing person. I love her. Here's just some of what makes her sooooo incredible:

She understands gender, race, ethnicity, and class ideologies more than anyone I've ever met. She talks about them all of the time...it is so captivating. She can talk hours about culture and gender and things like that. She exhibits both feminism and feminismo. (Now you are probably getting an idea on how great she is!).

She is a 5th year senior in a prestigious Ethnic Studies program with a minor in African fiction. Fortunately almost all of her studies have been independent study because to be truthful the profs just don't understand this stuff as well as she does. Tell me this womyn won't have her pick of plumb jobs when she graduates!

Her stated goal in life is to instill an appreciation of non-Western cultural diversity and tricultural lifestyles and experiences. Talk about thinking big!

I don't want to paint a picture of her as narrowly focused on the above areas (as if you can be narrowly focused on ethnic studies, har har!). She has soooo many other interests. These include ritualism, mythology, and symbolism, cosmology, shamanism, and playing djbotto drums.

She cohabitates with a feline named Gloria Allred. (Is that cool or what?).

My friend's politics are also right on. We cried into the night when the Supreme Court stole the election from President Gore. Thank goddess I didn't have to be alone.

I could go on and on but I just want to say happy birthday comrade! We've had sooo many good times together. We've protested together, been arrested together, worked together (before I was fired by that womyn-hating Neanderthal at the co-op), and have read poetry together. You are one of a kind (which is unfortunately because if there were 100 million of you this country would rock!).

Blue Flypaper's Plan for Fixing NASA

Republicans pride themselves for being able to run wars. (What a horrible thing to be good at!)

But give them a peaceful task, say like "peace" in Iraq or managing NASA, and it's a big disaster. With regard to NASA, Challenger and Columbia both happened with Republicans at the helm.

You think that is partisan? Well, there has never been a space disaster during a Democratic administration.

Since we are stuck with the Republicans in the White House until 2008 (barring impeachment for war crimes like illegally invading someone else's country), Blue Flypaper believes that it has the answer...put NASA under Democratic leadership. John Kerry would do a phenomenal job with it and here are just some of the things Democrats could do to improve NASA:

1. Stop the blatant discrimination in picking astronauts. People-of-size make up half of this country and yet have never been selected to go to space? (I smell a discrimination lawsuit here). Let's fix this before half our country (and even more if you go on a weighted average) feel disenfranchised from the whole space thing.

2. Stop giving all of the plumb Space Shuttle contracts to the same "Beltway Bandits." Since the Republicans are quick to point out the importance of small business in America, then let's give the small guy the job of building future Shuttles and other space craft. Not just small business, but womyn-owned businesses, minority-owned businesses, and co-ops. Since the program is funded by the people, it should benefit all the people by being a job training program. Experienced engineers and scientists certainly don't need another opportunity so let's use NASA to employ people who've never had a chance to do these jobs or any other job for that matter. I just learned of the existence of a website that promotes guns and ammo. Can you believe that? They might as well be promoting the safe and personal use of car bombs. I am not going to get into a debate about guns. I think we all know that if you look at the last 100 years of our country, the number of people who have guns has gone up and so has the number of people getting shot! Do the math: More guns = more people getting shot. It's that simple. Do you want to get shot? I don't!

The website that I'm referring to is called Aphecca. I have to admit that I haven't really read anything on their site because it is clear that it is conservative and my readers know that I do not read conservative literature. (I don't drink bleach either!). Furthermore, there is a picture of a guy with a gun right on the front. How can so-called patriots promote guns? What great American patriot has ever held a gun throughout our entire history? It just doesn't happen.

I'm going to give Alphecca (which is probably a Greek word for ammunition) a chance to improve themselves and drop the whole gun thing. If they don't then I'm going to put them on the Blue Flypaper Black List.

For those thinking that this might be too harsh, I'm sure given the chance they would just put a couple of rounds in our rear-ends and call it a warning. What bums me out is that this guy is from Vermont. Based on Howard Dean, I thought everyone in Vermont would be cool. It's not that big of a state so a sample size of one should be sort of accurate. But I don't ever picture Howard Dean posing with a rifle like that guy above. Scary!

I really hate to take this negative tone and go all Columbine on someone I don't really know, but if we don't get guns off of web sites then we might as well accept the fact that there will be crime. Remember guns = crime. Nuff said. I'm off to my womyn's fiction reading group where I'm pretty sure there will be no guns! Just incense, Indian hymym tea, and lots of love in the room.

What can I not say about Rev. Sharpton?

Sharpton is a unifier, not a divider. He is color blind to race and I swear he can't tell the difference between a fellow African American on one hand and a minority-hating white pig on the other.

The good Reverend never ever makes race an issue and instead talks solely of the objective merits of an issue. He certainly never allows base emotions to play a role in his actions.

A great example of his love for fair play is the Twana Brawley case. Even though it wasn't absolutely proven that she was raped by a white policeman, I think we all know that she was. Furthermore, we all know that white District Attorney was somehow responsible for the whole thing.

Sharpton has been magnanimous in lending his name and his fame to pretty much every racially charged protest in New York over the last 30 years.

Sharpton did his best to avoid the riots in Crown Heights in 1991, as well as an 1995 arson attack on a Jewish Harlem jeweler that resulted in 8 deaths. Without his involvement things could have gotten really ugly.

He's also a great friend of fellow African American Michael Jackson and helped him protest the racism so prevalent at Sony Music.

Blue Flypaper Proclaims Ted Kennedy is one of us!

Ted represents America the way we are and not some idealized portrayal of people in conservative Hollywood movies. We are not a nation of perfectly looking people. We are not a a nation of thin people or a nation of athletic e people. Our minority-hating President may exercise and concern himself with physical fitness, dietary discipline, etc., but the rest of us don't. We're focused on more important things than physical health and appearance! Look at Ted and you see America--all of it!

Teddy is like America in other ways. Unlike President I'm-so-perfect-aren't-I Bush, we are a people who make mistakes; that's how we learn. Kennedy had Chappaquiddick, and that was a really good learning experience as evidenced by it never happened again. How do you learn if you don't make a small mistake like that once in awhile and who of us can't say that we haven't had our own little Chappaquiddicks that in the end left us as better people?

We are a nation that has a passion for our heritage. That's why Kennedy has been such a good and loyal supporter of Sinn Fein and the freedom fighters of the IRA. Ted is just being American in this regard and what have those British ever done for us anyway compared to those Fightin' Irish!

We are a nation who stands by our family members in times of need. Think about how Teddy and the Kennedy clan pulled together to support William Kennedy Smith with those nasty rape allegations. Ted was right there the whole time starting with the night the girl was raped (sporting the "no trouser" look as I remember) and never left William's side through the whole matter.

Teddy is America and America is Teddy. Let's never forget that and rejoice that he's just like us!

Dan Rather Where Are You?

Blue Flypaper is calling Dan Rather to come back to network news. The day you left, CBS started just reporting the news and stopped interpreting the news. Dan you got to the bottom of Bush's military record and you were part of the team that nailed General Westmoreland. We need this type of reporting now more than ever!

Losing Mary Mapes was also a blow. No one could rush a story through the system like her. Her "gut instinct" did what other producers required fact checkers to do. As a team, you both understood that you don't sit around and wait for news to happen, losers do that. No if you want a story bad enough, you go out and make the story.

Dan, you would be so perfect as an embedded reporter at Camp Casey. Without you we are hardly hearing anything about Cindy Sheehan. This poor woman is suffering from obscurity and that isn't right. And it isn't just her. Did you know that Joan Baez sang at Camp Casey? This was basically a USO show for anti-war zealots and it was practically ignored.

Think about it, Joan Baez is one of today's hottest and most relevant talents and she does a rare, exclusive show and no one seems to care.

Dan, I'd say that over 90% of the TV viewing audience wants and needs you back and Blue Flypaper is going to start a letter writing campaign to the other 10% to show them how wrong they are. We'll do that by writing to the blogs that spread lies and talk poorly about you. If they fail to heed our warnings, we are going to put them on the Blueflypaper Black List, which will effectively shut them down.

Here is a copy of the first email which is going to Rathergate. (What a hateful name!).

Dear Rathergate:

You are very mean people. But you already know that. What you are doing goes beyond mean and is in fact inappropriate. There are so many wrong things about you that I could fill up a blog (heck, maybe I just will some day!) but for now I'll list a few of the issues I have with you and then my demands.

1. You use Dan Rather's name even though you are not related to him. I see from your website that your names are "Kevin" and "Mike". How would you like it if I created a website called "Kevingate" or "Mikegate," not so funny is it?

2. You act as though those stupid Killian documents have been proven to be falsified. Nothing has ever been proven on those and if they were good enough for Dan Rather they should be good enough for you.

3. Speaking of good enough, nothing Dan does seems to be good enough for you. If Rush Limbaugh signed off with the word "courage," you'd say brilliant. When Dan Rather does it you say "hackneyed." If George Bush were to walk off camera and leave 6 minutes of dead air you'd call it "assertive", when Rather does it you call him a "self-righteous cry baby".

4. You kick people when they are down. Dan inherited a newscast that was in first place when he took over and 3rd when he retired. Do you give him any slack for that? No sireee!

Okay, our demand. If you do not shut down your blog, plus issue an immediate apology to Dan Rather and all of his fans for all of the hateful things that Rathergate has written, then we will have no choice but to put you on the Blue Flypaper Black List. I'm sorry it has come to this.

First off, any woman who can land Tim Robbins is a real womym! (Yes, I know that they are not officially married. So what?).

Second, she doesn't just rest on her laurels of being Tim Robbins' squeeze, as she has done some acting too.

But, most importantly, this womyn is a leading political pundit. She doesn't make statements often, instead she waits until she has all of the facts, all of the back-up, so that her statements are irrefutable. For example:

"We stand a chance of getting a president who has probably killed more people before he gets into office than any president in the history of the United States."

"How will the bombing of Baghdad, a city of five million, accomplish a regime change?"

You simply cannot argue against this logic.

Plus, by being a celebrity, Sarandon has access to high-level information not available to non-celebrities. But instead of remaining silent, Sarandon talks to all Americans who are willing to listen to her. And I quote:

"Now should I be quiet because I have information other people don't have? No."

Thank goddess she does!. Furthermore, Sarandon also has the brass balls to call it like it is, for example equating al-Qaeda with

U.S.

businesses. When you think of it parallels are so obvious, however no one before had the nerve to say it. In her words:

"Let us find a way to resist fundamentalism that leads to violence. Fundamentalism of all kinds, in al-Qaeda and within our government. And what is our fundamentalism? Cloaked in patriotism and our doctrine of spreading democracy throughout the world, our fundamentalism is business.

Now if we'd do more dialoguing and less warring in Palestine, Iraq, Chechnya, and with Osama bin Laden, then we could go back to the times when there were no wars (ie., before Bush & his Dad).

Blue Flypaper Proudly Reads the Los Angeles Times

We in Hollywood are so lucky for so many reasons, just one of which is that we are served by the Los Angeles Times. What a great paper! The Times has done a brilliant job of attacking Governator Arnold and his pro-steroid, anti-women agenda. If not for the LAT, the Governor would have fired every teacher and fire fighter in the state. In fact, if I want to know what Gov. Arnold is doing wrong at any given time all I have to do is pick up an issue and I am assured that they will have an anti-Arnold story with all of the sordid details. They are consistently so good to the Democrats of Los Angeles and our causes leading to our honoring them today.

Unfortunately, not everyone is aware how lucky we are to have one of the fairest and least biased papers in the world right here in Southern California. Surprisingly not everyone agrees with this obviously true fact. A quick Google and Technorati search turned up a few a few regular critics of the paper and its employees.

First are those hate mongers at Independent Sources, charter member of the Blue Flypaper Black List.

A second heinous blog is something called Patterico's Pontifications. Whoa. This guy's home delivery must have gone into the bushes a few too many times as he needs to chill out LA Times-wise. He calls the LA Times the "Dog Trainer"--which I guess is a play on words for dogs to do you-know-what. That level of crass analogy combined with his unfounded declarations that the LA Times is too liberally-biased also lands Patterico on our Blue Flypaper Black List.

I shouldn't have to defend the Los Angeles Times, any of the 3.5 million people who love the paper can attest to its brilliance. The paper does so many good things for the people of LA. They help people sell their homes and buy their cars, they help people get jobs and find yard sales. Does Patterico do any of this? How about the homeless? Without the LA Times, I'm not sure anyone would even know that we have a homeless problem.

The LA Times deserves our respect and reverence and not nitpicking for silly issues that no one cares about anyway.

Blue Flypaper Adds Area417 to the Black List!

Okay, I hate to do this but Blue Flypaper has been forced to add Area417 to the Blue Flypaper Black List. (The graphic on the left is from their site and has an American flag along with people with guns, presumably invading some poor country for their oil). Think of the Blacklist as a travel advisory for blog readers. What has Area417 done to deserve this drastic action? Here's just a sample of what Area417 is guilty of:

1. Accessory to Murder. Area417 supports the war in Iraq, which along with other wars, has costs millions of lives. Remember, if no one supported the Republican war machine, there would be no wars and thus no dead soldiers, civilians, etc.

2. Treason. Area417 is against the ACLU. I have no doubt if the ACLU had been around 200+ years ago, our Founding Fathers would have all been members of the ACLU. To be against the ACLU is to be against our country, which is treason.

3. Defamation of Character. Area417 has said many bad things about this blog and other liberal leaders. By definition these character assassinations are untrue. Hence, defamation!

I could go on and on but, unlike Area417, Blue Flypaper likes to take the high road so we'll stop here.

Avoid them, Boxer Watch and (non)Indepedent Sources, and be happy.

Boi From Troy is having a political identity crisis. There is a blog called Boi From Troy, and it could be the perfect liberal blog. It has nice graphics, a good font, and a clean layout (unlike the first two bloggers that we critiqued, the enemy [Independent Sources] and BoxerWatch (gag!). However the intention of the BoiFromTroy site is to snarl unsuspecting bloggers into a conservative agenda! I call them Republican Predators, and they prey on the weak and try to turn them into Republicans like themselves. It's a lot like a cult which is why we have them on the Blue Flypaper Black List.

I don't know if there is a form of counseling that helps confused conservatives revert back to liberalism where they belong. It someone (even a conservative) is open-minded enough it's pretty easy to get them away from conservatism. All you have to do is walk pretty much any conservative through a Nike plant where 8-year old girls are working 16-hour days stitching up cross-trainers for 10 cents an hour (with no medical benefits). If they are still holding out, then let them sit in on a typical cabinet meeting of George Bush where the over-riding focus is taking rights away from minorities and figuring out new ways to invade peaceful countries. After those experiences anyone with a heart and brain will come over to the liberal side quicker than you can say "Ted Kennedy".

BoiFromTroy: Come on over from the dark side before it's too late! As for the rest of you conservatives, watch out. We'll be targeting your blog next!

These have been trying times. First I read that the number of homeless people in Los Angeles is growing. It's something like 750,000 people in LA alone and it so bothers me that we'd rather kill people in the Middle East than help the hardworking and noble souls who need homes in Los Angeles but can't have them because Republicans took them away to build mini-malls and Nike factories. Sometimes I feel that if the homeless people in LA had launched a Homeless Jihad then maybe they'd be getting the same attention that the mid-east freedom fighters are getting. I guess we ignore the good guys.

Second, I did a simple post pointing out a mean spirited blog that I think typlifies the problems we have in this country. I normally would have ignored them but they posted us on a blog called Fark (well click here for the story), anyway I was shocked and dismayed to learn that they are not alone. There are legions and legions of similarly mean and misguided sites, I'll call them conservative bloggers and the fact they even exist scares the heck out of me. If you think I am exaggerating, check out a blog called "Boxer Watch." Yikes! Now part of me thinks that it is a parody site put up by loyal Democrats just to show how stupid the fascist, McVeigh-loving right-wingers are. However, if it is a real site, then whoever is running it is someone who needs a reality check.

To them and everyone I ask, "where would this country be, if we did not have Barbara Boxer?" In the toilet I tell you. She has done more to stop, halt, delay, and obfuscate the hateful Republican agenda. Who do you think has been responsible for the gridlock we've been lucky to have? The Republicans you say? Yeah right. Repubs don't even know how to filibuster. I shiver when I think all of the things that would be getting done if Boxer wasn't there to block them.

So during trying times like this, I take a deep breath and think of all of the great Democrat leaders we have out there. Fox News and other conservative outlets may not cover them but the Ted Kennedys, Hillary Clintons, and especially the Barbara Boxers will get us away from the economic problems and terrorism all caused by Bush!

I am particularly upset about the Independent Sources blog because I am pretty sure that they are the ones that posted us on Total Fark. Initially I thought this was a complement and even sent them a note thanking them. However, in the end, I believe they did it to ridicule us. We never did anything to them so I don't know why they did that to us. (Karl Rove must work there!)

Most of our readers will never have heard of Independent Sources because as a true liberal you should try and stay away from reading non-liberal publications like this. How can I tell that these guys non-liberals? Well, just look at some of the articles that they have on their blog:

Hillary a Moderate? Not so fast! In this article they say Hillary is not a moderate and votes liberal, as if that is somehow bad.

"That Hissing Sound You Hear" is Paul Krugman Running Out of Ways to Denegrate the Economy . Believe it or not but Independent Sources even has a bone to pick with Paul Krugman; one of the greatest minds of this century. I have no doubt that if Krugman chose to make movies instead of write columns he could be the next Michael Bay. He's that good.

NYT and Newsweek once again the source of Fidel Castro's Talking Points. So what's wrong with that? These are great, great periodicals and what enemy of the country wouldn't want to quote from them. I do all of the time.

Anyway, you get the idea. I'm going to send Independent Sources an email and see how they like public ridicule now that the shoe is on the other foot. It's not so funny is it?

Update: Well to no one's surprise Independent Sources didn't take too well to our calling them out. They pointed to this posting and instead of an apology they labeled us the "World's Worst Liberal Blog." Now we're certain that Karl Rove works there. Even more telling to their sinister nature is that they have a new post that criticizes the ACLU. Can you believe that? The ACLU practically wrote the constitution. They protect everyone. They're great. If you are attacking them then you are attacking the people that they represent too. Speaks volumes.

Stunningly beatiful actress and big hearted activist Jane Fonda says she intends to take a cross-country bus tour to call for an end to U.S. military operations in Iraq.

"I can't go into any detail except to say that it's going to be pretty exciting," she said.

Fonda said her anti-war tour in March will use a bus that runs on "vegetable oil."

None of this should be a surprise as Jane has been a big supporter of U.S. troops (who love her) ever since she went to Vietnam in order to try and get our boys back from the Republican War Machine they were stuck in. She is also an avid environmentalist and exercise guru.
